Mostly you will find music related information on my site however occasionally expect things similar to the following…
Two years ago I engineered an event that showcased a movie called Age of Stupid. After watching the film and being part of the production I become very interested in the environmental affects of the water bottling industry. I found another enlightening film called Flow, which also highlights the fact that in 20 years we are all gonna be thirsty.
It is quite clear that we are quickly running out of fresh water. The water bottling industry not only provides high levels of waste (plastic) but is also rapidly shifting the water table all over the world as they displace fresh water in one country, to bottle and sell it in another. Additionally, due to use of new pesticides and “innovative” ways of farming and growing food, massive record amounts of water are needed to maintain the food industry all over the world.
In 2006 the Bush family purchased 100000 acres of land in South America. The media ran with the idea that the Bush family was planning their escape for all the crimes that George Bush committed while in office. This explanation was easily accepted by most people. However not many reports pointed out the fact that this particular area of South America sits on top of the Guarani Aquifer. Simply put, this area contains a large supply of clean, fresh water.
Thinking of all of this, I am quickly reminded of a story from when I was young… I was camping way up north in the Adirondacks…Crane Mountain to be exact. We found a general store about 30 minutes out from the initial entrance to the summit. We decided to stop to check all the gear before starting our hike. While parked in our jeep, another car pulls up besides us….old beat up convertible with two long haired greasy looking backhills type of guys…
One of these cats has three snakes wrapped around him…almost like jewelry. Our conversation showed how impressed we were with the snakes… these cats were really easy people…totally positive and all around chill so they were fine with our astonishment. However, for the first five minutes of conversation they were acting as impressed with us as we were with the snake necklaces. At first I thought they were messing around with us because I could not understand why they were quietly commenting to each other about some aspect about me and my crew. Ultimately it came out… They never saw bottled water! (year was 1993…bottled water had been around for awhile at this point). They didn’t understand it…they didn’t know why someone would ever buy it… it was a complete mystery to them. My point… sometimes the most natural reaction is the right one.
